TMS NEWS Release

By R. A. Fariello

The highly experienced Thompson Motorsports race mechanic and occasional Crew Chief, Will Harris, has been reassigned to two new team positions:

  • Car Chief for the TMS NASCAR #61 Cars and Trucks
  • Crew Chief for Brett Thompson’s #61 Rocky Mountain Challenge Series car

Although the workload and philosophies associated with two different team positions – and three different vehicles – is a challenging assignment, TMS management is confident that Will’s work ethic and prior experience will form the basis for his success in carrying out these multiple responsibilities.

Will Harris, a native of the Salt Lake City area, was first introduced to automotive racing at the age of 12. His initial training in race mechanics was accomplished through work with a local Race Team, a team owned by his uncle. Although his first racing job was decidedly “bottom rung”, that of car cleaner, it still fed a passion that led to his current career choice. Will diligently pursued his career goals even while graduating from high school and also earning his ASE certification. In 2002, Will became a member of the Modified team that won the RMR Season Championship. That same Modified Championship was, again, won in 2003. Before his 2005 employment with Thompson Motorsports, that Modified race team, of which Will was a part, had won an impressive 19 races in just 3 years!

Today, Will resides in Jerome ID with his wife Nichol and two daughters, Izabelle (6yrs.) and Kourtney (2 yrs.).

Thompson Motorsports is very thankful to have Will’s services and everyone wishes him the best in his new position.
