Thompson Motorsports Welcomes Scott Gilligan to the TMS Racing Team

By R. A. Fariello

Thompson Motorsports has acquired the services of Scott Gilligan to add to their already impressive technical staff.

Scott, 30, brings to TMS what would seem to be a 50 year experience level. As it is with a large majority of race mechanics, Scott grew up in a household where virtually every member of the family was a race driver or car owner.

Scott brings an excellent resume to TMS. He has crewed for multiple local teams as well as 3 NASCAR Grand National West Teams. In 1997, he was selected to travel to the prestigious Expo Race held at the Twin Ring Motegi Track (Japan).

Scott Gilligan also has a very fine background as a race car driver. Starting at age 15, Scott has raced everything from Modifieds to Trucks to Flat Track Motorcycles, Legends, and now, Late Models. He has not only raced in these divisions but he has won on a regular basis. In one particular Modified division, Scott amassed 15 main event victories in two years and was also awarded a “Rookie of the Year” title.

Clearly Scott’s incredibly broad mechanical background, and varied racing experience, are of great value to the TMS Customer base, especially since those customers form a group with widely varied racing needs. Scott is easily able to relate to each of those customer’s needs, both as an experienced race car driver and, as a knowledgeable crew member.

Scott’s goals include a progression into a NASCAR GN West car. He states that, someday, he would like to “race against my boss, Brett Thompson”. At TMS we share that wish with him: it is that kind of competitive spirit that is highly admired, and, has made Scott Gilligan a valued member of the TMS family.

My team is out. So much for Italy this year. How quick was that. I assumed that they had a pretty decent shot to do well in this years world cup. I guess I will have to wait. Maybe its time to jump on the Argentina bandwagon. Looks like Demichelis has already scored. Go Argentina. To turn around my day that was ruined by Italy, I have been listening to some funny jokes.. This one made me feel a little better:
