Hannah Newhouse Hopes Home Field Has Advantages

16-year old Racer Seeks Breakout Win in Southern Idaho “200″

JEROME, IDAHO (June 13, 2013)- Since she was able to walk about the only thing Hannah Newhouse ever wanted to do was to race cars. In the intervening years, the Twin Falls High School student has raced motorcycles, go-karts, trucks, and stock cars. This weekend, she aims to continue her successful climb in motorsports by competing in the Southern Idaho “200″ weekend at her home track of Magic Valley Speedway.

Newhouse will have two chances at victory this weekend. First is the 100-lap CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series event Friday, June 14. Newhouse is currently fifth in the point standings and tied for the rookie point on the strength of two top five finishes to start the season.

Then on Saturday, she will join other competitors from around the region all vying for one of 26 starting positions in the marquee event of the year at MVS.

With the backing of Thompson Motorsports and several local area sponsors, Newhouse is poised for a breakout victory. “Racing for the Thompson Motorsports team has been incredible,” Newhouse said. ” They believe in me and give me the best equipment, set-up, and chance to win every time we put the car on the track.”

The racing this weekend will be one of her biggest tests to date in her stock car career. “I am really confident in the team,” Newhouse stated. “I just have to do my job and not over drive the car. There are going to be a lot of really good cars but I have a lot of confidence heading into the weekend.”

The 300-laps of competition will be the most that Newhouse has ever competed in. “These cars are a workout,” Newhouse recently said. “I just need to get into a rhythm and drive. Our primary goal is to be in position to win on Friday since we are in the RMCS to win a championship.”

Newhouse also competes full-time in the ASA Truck Series and recently finished second in the annual Diamond Cup at Meridian (ID) Speedway. She is currently second in the truck point standings.

Newhouse will be at Gertie’s Brick Oven Pizza in Twin Falls, ID from 11am-2pm today signing autographs and giving away team swag. Stop by and meet this rising star in motorsports.
