Las Vegas Rookie Learning the Ropes in NASCAR K&N Pro Series

JEROME, IDAHO (March 29, 2010) Being a rookie is never easy and 26-year old Taylor Barton of Las Vegas, Nevada is learning the ropes in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West where he will compete in at least five races for Thompson Motorsports. The first test for this rookie was to qualify for and complete all the laps in the Toyota/Napa Challenge 150-lap event at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA. Test number one; pass.

Barton qualified 19th after grazing the wall on his second qualifying lap. “I just let the car drift too high,” Barton said. “The Thompson Motorsports team repaired the damage and gave me a great car for the race.”

Barton’s main focus for the race was to complete all the laps and compete well in order to receive approval from NASCAR to compete in the next event at Phoenix April 8. Barton did his part learning the ropes from the veteran drivers in the series and finished a respectable 12th in the final running order. “I really learned a lot and the experience was great,” Barton offered. “For our first race in the car I am really happy about the result. We put this deal together just before the season and have not had any time to test so this finish feels real good.”

Barton’s next rookie test will come on Thursday, April 8 as the series heads to the one-mile oval at Phoenix International Raceway for a 100-lap sundown showdown. “I am really looking forward to Phoenix and I know the Thompson team will have a really good car for the event.”
